How to Join

SBAS membership is open to any individual who is an active student in a university department of surgery or its affiliated hospitals, a freestanding surgical residency program, an ACGME-approved surgery program, or an individual in a surgical specialty. Surgical residents are invited to join as Associate Fellows.

Annual dues are $100 for residents/fellows and $25 for medical students.

To apply for a membership as a resident/fellow:

Only complete applications are considered and must include:

  1. Current CV and Bibliography
  2. Letter of recommendation from the Chairman of your department
  3. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member in your department familiar with your academic accomplishments
  4. Current Photo-headshot
To apply for membership as a medical student
Click here to apply

Only complete applications are considered and must include:

  1. Current CV and Bibliography
  2. Letter of recommendation preferably from a surgical faculty member at your current institution
  3. Current Photo-headshot
