General Surgeon (Trauma)

Location: Stanford University School of Medicine

The Department of Surgery/Division of General Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a Clinical General/Trauma Surgeon to join the Division in the next year. The candidate is expected to develop a strong level III trauma program at Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare in Pleasanton. This faculty position will be at the Clinical Assistant, Associate or full Professor level in the Clinician Educator Line (CE) at Stanford University, ValleyCare. The major criterion for appointment for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administration and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Applicants must be board eligible/certified in General Surgery and preferably Surgical Critical Care and have had a full general surgery practice with at least five years of experience. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent clinical skills and collaborative abilities. A history of preclinical or clinical research is desired as well. Preclinical research experience that would fit well with opportunities at Stanford includes translational research focused on novel therapies for trauma, injury and critical care. Clinical research opportunities include outcomes assessment, patient safety and/or quality.
