Academic Transplant Surgeon and Chief, Division of Transplant Surgery
Location: The University of California, Davis, Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery at the University of California Davis, Health located in Sacramento, California, seeks to hire a full time Transplant Surgeon, Chief of the Division of Transplant Surgery, and Medical Director of UC Davis Transplant Center at the associate or full professor level in the Clinical X or In-Residence series. The Division of Transplant Surgery currently performs both adult and pediatric transplantation of the kidney, kidney-pancreas and isolated pancreas, and seeks to develop the full portfolio of solid organ transplantation with plans to initiate a liver transplant program in the near future.
The successful candidate must have acquired a history of leadership and administration experience in clinical and educational programs, including successful research activities, by virtue of training or prior experience.
The selected candidate will provide strategic and operational direction that will lead to growth of the educational, research, and clinical missions of the surgical programs at UC Davis Health. The candidate selected is expected to engage in the teaching and practice of adult and pediatric transplant surgery; including both inpatient and outpatient clinical care and basic translational/clinical science research related to transplantation.
Qualified candidates must possess a Medical Degree and be eligible or certified by the American Board of Surgery. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is also required.
Qualified candidates will include experience and capability in liver, kidney and pancreas transplants and must meet UNOS requirements for primary surgeon in both liver and kidney transplantation. The ideal candidate will have vision and willingness to grow a program of excellence.
The candidate must acquire a CA Medical License before the appointment start date.
