Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery

Location: Yale University Lawrence and Memorial (L&M) Hospital

The Department of Surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine seeks one (1) academic minimally invasive/general surgeon to join the Division of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery during the next 12 months. This faculty position will be at the Assistant/Associate level depending on experience.

The position will be to perform general, trauma and minimally invasive surgery at Yale’s Lawrence and Memorial (L&M) Hospital. This position will also support the Yale L&M Bariatric and foregut program at the discretion of the Yale L&M Chair of Surgery and Yale Division Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Yale Medicine has a wide referral network of primary and specialty care physicians. We are seeking candidates with an academic orientation in clinical care and/or education. Candidates will have exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to make contributions to the field of Surgery. In addition to program planning and development, candidates should also have a background in quality assurance, educational and/or operational issues.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine and institutional service- appropriate to the programmatic need the individuals are expected to fulfill. The candidates must be board eligible/certified in General Surgery and be fellowship trained or equivalent in minimally invasive surgery. Potential candidates will be able to perform complex general, trauma and/or minimally invasive procedures. Candidates should have an outstanding academic record in research, clinical care and education.

The Candidate should have experience administratively, with excellent interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary communication, with exceptional leadership talent. Strong skills in program planning, development and quality assurance, educational and operational issues are essential.
