Academic Cardiac Surgeon

Location: University of California, Davis Health, Sacramento, CA

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The academic title will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank within the Health Sciences Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications.

Faculty appointed in the In-Residence series are expected to engage in teaching, research and university and public service. The Clinical X series has teaching research and service with an extra component of clinical practice. The Health Sciences Clinical Professor series is expected to engage in teaching, clinical care, service and contribute to scholarly and/or creative activities.

The successful candidate will engage in the teaching and practice of a broad spectrum of adult cardiac surgery including transcatheter intervention for structural heart disease.

Basic Qualifications:

The candidate must possess a Medical Degree and be eligible or certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, they must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is also required.

They must have experience in general cardiac surgery and further training and experience with catheter-based surgery.

They should also have experience and interest in education and training of surgical residents and medical students and the knowledge of managing a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must include experience and capability in complex coronary artery revascularization and catheter base intervention for structural heart disorders.

Additional Qualifications:

The candidate must acquire a CA Medical License before the appointment start date and obtain a California Fluoroscopy Operator’s Permit within the first year of appointment.
